The energy performance certificate is a multi-page document that assesses the energy efficiency of a property by calculating its energy efficiency. As this calculation is based on standardised calculation methods, the energy performance certificate enables prospective buyers and tenants to compare the energy consumption of properties and calculate the associated costs. For homeowners, the energy performance certificate has the advantage of allowing them to see the current energy status of their property and, if necessary, carry out modernisation measures to optimise energy efficiency. Modernisation measures, such as replacing heating systems or insulating exterior walls, should be carried out if there are energy deficiencies, which are indicated by the red area of the colour scale.
