Historical overview
Drackendorf, a picturesque district in the south-east of Jena, was first mentioned in a document on 29 September 1280 under the name "Drachindorf". The name is presumably derived from the mythical creature "dragon". In the 13th century, there were two important farms here: the "Obere Hof" on the right-hand side of the Hungerbach, first mentioned as a "noble seat" in 1278, and the "Untere Hof" on the left-hand side, which was granted to the knight Burghold as a fief of the Lords of Lobdeburg-Leuchtenburg in 1280.
The Church of the Resurrection, originally dating from the 15th century, was rebuilt between 1653 and 1656 and has been the spiritual centre of the village ever since.

Drackendorf's excellent infrastructure is a significant advantage for property sellers. The village is located on the south-eastern outskirts of Jena and is crossed by the Hungerbach stream. The federal motorway 4 runs south of Drackendorf and provides fast connections to the surrounding regions. The Jena University Hospital is also in the immediate vicinity, which makes the location particularly attractive for medical staff.
