Are you looking to sell or buy a property in Cospeda? We have been assisting our customers in Jena with property brokerage for many years. We know Cospeda with all its advantages and are at your disposal for your (dream) property. Cospeda is a district of the independent city of Jena and is located in the north-west of the city centre. Around 1300 inhabitants live there, surrounded by the idyllic Windknollen nature reserve.
A historic place with an important past
Cospeda was first mentioned in a document in 1259. The place name comes from the Old Slavic "gospoda", which means "hostel". The village was originally the seat of the noble family of Cossibode before it was sold to the Cistercian nunnery in Jena in 1359. The Lords of Heldrungen also owned significant land in Cospeda, as evidenced by numerous donations to St Michael's Monastery in Jena. After the dissolution of the monastery in 1525, Cospeda was assigned to the Jena district.
Cospeda played an important role in the Battle of Jena on 14 October 1806, where the French troops under Marshal Lannes and parts of the Augereau Corps gathered before launching their attacks on Dornberg, Vierzehnheiligen and Isserstedt.
In 1956, the 1806 memorial in Cospeda was inaugurated, offering an insight into the historical significance of the battle. Another memorial, the Napoleon Stone, was erected in 1992 and commemorates Napoleon's most important battles and his place of exile, St Helena. Historical battles are regularly re-enacted, most recently in 2006 on the 200th anniversary of the battle and in 2011.

Do you want to sell a property in Cospeda?
Cospeda is becoming increasingly popular as a place to live, which makes the property market particularly attractive for owners looking to sell their property. The combination of rural idyll and proximity to the city makes the town desirable for many prospective buyers. Thanks to its location in the "Mittleres Saaletal" nature reserve with its extensive meadows, farmland and orchards, as well as its proximity to the Windknollen nature reserve and the Napoleonstein, Cospeda attracts nature lovers and history buffs alike.
The infrastructure is also impressive: three district roads meet here, while two nearby main roads offer fast connections to Jena, Weimar (17 km) and Erfurt (40 km). Bus route 16 also provides good connections to Jena city centre and the neighbouring town of Isserstedt, which has extensive shopping facilities. There are important facilities for everyday life on site, including a dentist's surgery, a general practitioner and a urologist. The Zur Linde restaurant also offers a cosy place to stop for a bite to eat. Companies such as Jentec, Jenalpin and a hairdresser's and tradesmen's businesses for electrical installation and gas/water heating round off the offer.
Cospeda is also characterised by an active club life. The Heimatverein Cospeda e.V., the Feuerwehrverein Cospeda e.V. with Burschenverein and the partnership association Freunde von Plomeur e.V. shape social life in the village. Sports enthusiasts can join SV Cospeda 97 e.V. or the two equestrian clubs Mühle Cospeda e.V. and Pferdefreunde Alter Pfarrhof Cospeda e.V., which specialise in riding Icelandic horses.
This mixture of proximity to nature, good infrastructure and active community life means that Cospeda remains an extremely desirable place to live. The ever-increasing demand for property ensures high demand - a clear advantage for sellers who can achieve the best possible price with a professional estate agent. If you would like to sell your property in Cospeda, we will be happy to support you with our experience and market knowledge.
