Rent increases for student flats

Affordable housing for students - a rarity. Rents have also increased for student flats in 2021. This is according to an analysis by Immowelt. The inflation rate of 6.8% was exceeded for a comparable period in 28 university cities.

As before, Munich is the most expensive student city in terms of housing. Here, tenants have to pay up to €840 for 40m². That's a whopping €80 more than in the previous year. As Munich is the No. 1 city for singles, students have to compete with single or widowed people for limited living space. In eastern Germany, however, the situation looks a little more relaxed.
